Welcome to our church family!
Pastor Daniel Lewis Schaffner, Sr.
(Know as Dan by most people & which I prefer)
I was called to be the Senior Pastor of Crossroads Christian Church January of 2005. I had been serving Crossroads Christian Church, then known as Greeley Christian Church as their interim pastor since August of 2004 before becoming the congregations' Senior Pastor. As of May 2006 I have celebrated 25 years as an Ordained Minister of the Gospel.
In recent years I have also become a member of American Association Of Christian Counselors. Pastoral ministry experiences for me have been in city and rural community settings in Iowa, Missouri, and Colorado. Before coming to Crossroads Christian I had served my last congregation for an enjoyable eight years. I was married for over 33 years. I have two grown married children (Danny & Christi) that have given me six wonderful grandsons.
Besides my pastoral ministries, I have been on the staff at Iowa Christian College & Equipping Center (Des Moines, IA) as well as Ezra Institute For Biblical Studies (West Des Moines, IA). I have been honored to have spoken at national, regional, and state conventions and conferences as well as lead seminars and workshops in local congregations and church camps dealing with a variety of Spiritual and Biblical topics. My formal educational background comes from Crossroads College (formally Minnesota Bible College), Central Christian College of the Bible, Iowa Christian College, and Emmanuel School Of Religion. My spiritual gifts are in the area of teaching and encouraging.
I have experienced a second wind in ministry in taking the pastorate with Crossroads Christian Church, because of the love and acceptance these church members express to me and to each other, as well as being a congregation where a person is allowed to have fun and freedom in expressing their faith. My personal life purpose verses are Mark 12:30-31 (And you must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your mind, and all your strength.' The second is equally important: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' No other commandment is greater than these.").
My ministry purpose passages are Ezra 7:10 ( This was because Ezra had determined to study and obey the law of the Lord and to teach those laws and regulations to the people of Israel.) and Ephesians 4:11 -16 (He is the one who gave these gifts to the church: the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, and the pastors and teachers. Their responsibility is to equip God's people to do his work and build up the church, the body of Christ, until we come to such unity in our faith and knowledge of God's Son that we will be mature and full grown in the Lord, measuring up to the full stature of Christ. Then we will no longer be like children, forever changing our minds about what we believe because someone has told us something different or because someone has cleverly lied to us and made the lie sound like the truth. Instead, we will hold to the truth in love, becoming more and more in every way like Christ, who is the head of his body, the church. Under his direction, the whole body is fitted together perfectly. As each part does its own special work, it helps the other parts grow, so that the whole body is healthy and growing and full of love.).
My teaching and preaching approach is that the Bible is the Word of God that still touches the lives of people today in a promising and positive way. So I respect Scriptural Truth and proclaim it in a relevant style that puts these profound ideas before individuals in a practical every day approach to life.
I personally believe:
• Our Heavenly Father is God of the universe and provider of all we need.
• Christ Jesus is God in the flesh and the Savior of mankind.
• The Holy Spirit is God who dwells in the believers helping them to grow spiritually and gives them gifts for ministry.
• The Bible is Gods' Word that reveals Gods' love and will for our lives.
• That all humans sin and fail but all also have the availability for salvation and eternal life provided through Jesus Christ.
• That the Church is to reveal Christ's truth, love, and holiness through words, work, and witness, and worship.
• That Christians aren't perfect but redeemed and so are forgiving and accepting of all peoples.
My door is open to all. I can be contacted most mornings, Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to noon in the Church Office. Or call to make an appointment to meet with me.
